Current Large Language Models (LLMs) essentially function as tools for predicting words by taking into account the preceding ones. An important principle in science is that there is no fundamental difference between the past and the future, except for what the Second Law of Thermodynamics asserts.
(This law is also commonly understood as the one that establishes the Arrow of Time.)
In essence, prediction and retrodiction are the same.
This work inverts the common usage of LLMs to go to the origins of language; and, perhaps, of everything.
